Brian Catanzaro, Vice President of Applied Research at NVIDIA, said on the 22nd, "It is important to support researchers so that they can effectively utilize artificial intelligence (AI) tools."
Vice President Catanzaro stated this at a special lecture held that afternoon at the invitation of Seoul National University's AI Institute, saying, "AI research is rapidly evolving through the combination of open models, data, and high-performance computing infrastructure." Approximately 300 people, including professors and students, attended the event.
Vice President Catanzaro further diagnosed that as AI technology spreads to various industries such as healthcare, manufacturing, and autonomous driving, the importance of cooperation between academia and industry is growing.
He emphasized, "The key elements for increasing research productivity and scalability are the organic combination of data, models, and computing infrastructure," and "It is also necessary to build an ecosystem where actual research achievements are quickly connected to industrial sites."
Seoul National University plans to use this event as an opportunity to promote convergence research and expand the cultivation of AI talent in cooperation with global AI leading companies, including NVIDIA.
