Dunamu, which operates Upbit, the largest virtual asset exchange in Korea, is launching a large-scale sharing campaign to celebrate 'Bitcoin Pizza Day' (May 22), a symbolic anniversary in the virtual asset industry.

Dunamu (CEO Oh Kyung-seok) announced on the 30th that it has selected actor Go Kyung-pyo as its brand model and is launching the ‘2026 Upbit Pizza Day’ campaign under the slogan “Do you know what May 22nd is? It’s Upbit Pizza Day.”

‘Bitcoin Pizza Day’ commemorates the first real-world transaction of virtual assets on May 22, 2010, when 10,000 Bitcoins (BTC) were exchanged for two pizzas. It is considered the first instance where virtual assets were used as a payment method in the real economy.

Dunamu has been holding 'Upbit Pizza Day' around this time every year since 2019. Since 2022, in particular, it has transitioned from a simple event to a member-participatory donation method, delivering pizzas to children and adolescents in child welfare facilities nationwide. As of last year, the cumulative donation amounted to 13,453 pizzas.

This year's campaign also focuses on spreading positive influence. Upbit is holding a 'Pizza Support Card Event' until May 8th. Warm supportive messages written by members will be delivered to children and adolescents nationwide along with sponsored pizzas. 300 participants selected through a lottery will receive a limited edition 'Daisy Pizza' jointly developed with Papa John's.

Practical benefits linked to virtual asset investment have also been prepared. Among members who newly apply for Bitcoin 'Coin Collection (installment investment)' and complete at least one purchase by May 19, 2,026 people will be selected through a lottery to receive a Papa John's pizza set worth 40,000 won (Super Papa's, Chicken Strips, Cola).

Yoon Sun-joo, Dunamu's Chief Brand Impact Officer (CBIO), said, "Bitcoin Pizza Day is a historic and symbolic day when digital assets expanded into real life." She added, "As we have prepared a meaningful event this year where members' participation directly leads to donations, we hope more users will experience the joy of sharing together."
