News1 reported that the controversy over fairness has resurfaced after the abolition of the financial investment income tax, as the government reconfirmed its policy to tax virtual assets next year. The opposition party, People Power Party, decided to re-examine the taxation system itself. Rep. Song Eon-seok of the People Power Party pointed out, "There are criticisms that taxing virtual assets is not fair in a situation where the financial investment income tax has been abolished." Rep. Kim Eun-hye pointed out, "It is difficult to understand why they want to collect taxes first when the taxation standards are not clear." Rep. Park Soo-young also said, "The National Tax Service is not sufficiently prepared to impose income tax on virtual assets." On the other hand, the Democratic Party of Korea has not yet released an official statement. Previously, the National Tax Service announced that it is preparing to tax income from 2027 and for reporting in 2028, in accordance with current law.
