A key Ripple figure has directly refuted XRP's '$10,000 reach scenario,' putting a brake on excessive expectations.
According to crypto media outlet NewsBTC on May 1 (local time), Ripple's former Chief Technology Officer, David Schwartz, recently raised realistic doubts on X (formerly Twitter) regarding claims that XRP could reach $10,000.
Schwartz refuted the claim, basing his core logic on the idea that 'market prices front-run expectations.' He pointed out, "If wealthy and rational investors believed even slightly in the possibility of XRP reaching $10,000 in the future, the current price would already be much higher."
This statement directly targets the very premise of hyper-bullish forecasts repeatedly raised within the XRP community. While some investors have anticipated prices of several thousand dollars or more based on expanded institutional adoption of XRP or its use in payment networks, Schwartz countered by questioning why such expectations are not reflected in the actual market price.
He also drew a line against claims that Ripple possesses a 'hidden mechanism' to intentionally drive up XRP's price. He emphasized that while some possibilities might have been imaginable in the past, claims of such 'magical means' existing in the current situation lack persuasiveness.
The market views this statement as simultaneously targeting both excessive optimism and conspiratorial interpretations surrounding XRP. Especially regarding the argument that the price does not fully reflect future utility, it highlights that the reality of capital not moving is itself the strongest counterargument.
Ultimately, the debate surrounding XRP's price continues in the gap between expectation and reality. Schwartz's remarks emphasize that the market has already largely factored in plausible scenarios, serving as an occasion to raise caution against extreme price forecasts.
