President Trump visiting the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool
As the ceasefire between the United States and Iran marks one month, the White House announced that U.S. President Donald Trump will deliver a speech in the White House Rose Garden at noon local time on the 8th (1 AM KST on the 9th).
According to Reuters on the 7th, the White House released a schedule containing plans for President Trump's speech. However, it did not specify the content of the speech.
The United States and Iran agreed to a 'two-week ceasefire' on the 7th of last month, and as that deadline was approaching, President Trump virtually extended the ceasefire indefinitely on the 21st of last month.
As President Trump's scheduled speech comes one month after the ceasefire agreement, attention is focused on what remarks he will make regarding peace negotiations with Iran.
Furthermore, given that the speech was announced the day after the U.S. and Iran engaged in skirmishes in the Strait of Hormuz, there is a possibility of remarks aimed at pressuring Iran.
Earlier, President Trump pressured Iran to accept a peace deal by stating on the social media platform Truth Social, "If they don't quickly sign an agreement, we will subdue them much more powerfully and brutally in the future."
