A Taiwan news anchor has been indicted on charges of receiving cryptocurrency from a Chinese agent and instigating military personnel to leak secrets, The Block reported. According to local prosecutors, anchor Lin Chen-yu is accused of providing money to six active and retired army and navy personnel since 2023 to obtain photos of classified military documents, and in return, receiving cryptocurrency worth a total of 169,493 New Taiwan Dollars (approximately $5,395) through Binance and OKX. Additionally, he is also accused of receiving at least 4,325 USDT from a Chinese national last year and producing reports criticizing the recall vote campaign against a Kuomintang (KMT) lawmaker, which was supported by the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).
