LayerZero (ZRO) apologized for the previously occurred security incident and admitted to a lack of communication. LayerZero is the cross-chain bridge exploited by hackers in Kelp DAO's rsETH hacking incident. LayerZero stated via its official X account: "The sub-RPC of our Decentralized Verifier Network (DVN) was attacked by the North Korean hacking group Lazarus, leading to data corruption, and an external RPC provider suffered a DDoS attack. While the protocol itself was not affected, operating the DVN in a single validator mode was a serious mistake." It added: "The single validator setup will be deprecated, and the protocol's default settings will be transitioned to a multi-validator system with a minimum of 3:3. We will fully upgrade our security infrastructure by developing new clients, implementing a multi-signature system, and introducing a console integrated management platform."
