The U.S. Senate Banking Committee, currently deliberating and marking up the Clarity Act, rejected all detailed amendments proposed by the Democratic party. So far, over 16 detailed amendments have been voted on. Democratic senators are protesting the chairman's markup process, arguing that ethics-related provisions should be added to the Clarity Act. The Banking Committee is currently continuing to vote on the detailed contents of the Clarity Act and will ultimately vote on whether to send the bill to the Senate floor. The committee consists of 24 senators (13 Republican, 11 Democratic), and 13 votes in favor are needed to decide on a floor vote. If the Banking Committee passes the bill, the Clarity Act will proceed to a Senate floor vote after jurisdictional coordination and integration procedures with the Senate Agriculture Committee.
