According to crypto media outlet CoinDesk on the 15th, blockchain analytics startup Elliptic argued to the US Congress that "more stringent Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations should be applied to cryptocurrency exchanges that support privacy coins." In this regard, Elliptic co-founder Tom Robinson stated in an interview, "If blockchain is used efficiently, illegal activities abusing cryptocurrencies can be successfully reduced." He further explained, "Previously, in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), an investigation into Bitcoin transactions exploited on the world's largest child pornography site resulted in the arrest of approximately 40 criminals." He added, "The U.S. House of Representatives committee will keep a close eye on cryptocurrencies and the dark web in the future."
