According to The Block, Iranian terror victims have filed an application with a U.S. court, requesting an order for Tether to transfer 344.14 million USDT, which Tether had frozen, to them. The victims have not yet received the terror victim compensation judgments they won against the Iranian government and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in past U.S. court cases. The plaintiffs argue that since the USDT was held in an IRGC-linked wallet, which is subject to OFAC sanctions, it can be seized and used for compensation enforcement under the U.S. Federal Terrorism Asset Enforcement Act. They also explained, "Tether has a precedent of burning and reissuing frozen assets at the request of U.S. investigative agencies in the past," suggesting that assets can be transferred to the victims' wallets in the same manner. This lawsuit is reportedly part of an enforcement process for Iranian-related terror victim compensation judgments totaling approximately $2.42 billion.
