The XRP Ledger demonstrated its utility growth in Q1 with tangible figures, expanding its presence in the institutional DeFi market by spearheading real-world asset tokenization and stablecoin expansion.
According to crypto media outlet Coingape on May 30 (local time), Messari reported that the market value of Real-World Assets (RWA) on the XRP Ledger (XRPL) in Q1 2026 reached $2.25 billion, a 124% increase from the previous quarter. This growth positioned the XRP Ledger as the 4th largest network among all networks by RWA market value.
Messari evaluated, “XRP's utility continues to grow as the XRP Ledger's functionality expands, particularly in institutional DeFi use cases such as real-world assets, stablecoins, and decentralized liquidity.” Messari explained that the introduction of new infrastructure is increasing XRP's contribution to the network economy.
Another pillar of growth is Ripple's USD-pegged stablecoin, RLUSD. RLUSD closed Q1 on the XRP Ledger with a market value of $340.3 million, a 45% increase from the previous quarter. According to the Messari report, RLUSD is currently the largest stablecoin on the XRP Ledger.
Increased institutional adoption was also confirmed by network activity metrics. The number of daily transactions on the XRP Ledger increased by 35.3% over the past three months, from 1.83 million to 2.48 million. The report pointed out that reserve requirements, transaction fees, and asset bridging services are included in the expanded demand for XRP utility.
Exposure through US XRP spot ETFs also increased. At the end of Q1, the combined holdings of ETFs were tallied at 775.4 million XRP, representing approximately 1.26% of the circulating supply. As of March 3, XRP holdings reached 810.2 million XRP, with Canary Capital, Bitwise, Franklin Templeton, and 21Shares ETFs each holding over 100 million XRP.
The XRP Ledger Foundation stated, “The XRP Ledger is accelerating value capture in stablecoins, real-world assets, and ETFs.” The foundation also unveiled a Quantum Readiness Roadmap for AI integration, official verification preparation, and security improvements, alongside technological advancements in the ecosystem.
