Inspecting the entire process from import to distribution
The Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aT) announced on the 18th that it is promoting the establishment of a dedicated organization for the efficient operation and strengthened post-management of imported agricultural and livestock product tariff quotas.
aT held the final briefing session for the '2026 Integrated Operation and Management Analysis Service for Agricultural and Livestock Product Tariff Quotas' at its Naju headquarters in Jeollanam-do on this day and discussed the matter.
aT plans to launch a 'Tariff Quota Operation and Management Task Force (TF)' from next month to conduct on-site inspections for intensively managed agricultural and livestock products in the second half of the year.
It also plans to review legal amendments to establish a legal basis within the year.
This service is a follow-up measure to the decision made in February by the inter-ministerial joint 'Ministerial Task Force for Special Management of Public Livelihood Prices' to promote the establishment of a dedicated organization of 30 people within aT.
aT plans to improve structural problems, such as the tariff reduction benefits from tariff quotas being concentrated in certain importers.
Furthermore, it plans to inspect the entire process of imported agricultural and livestock products from the port of import to retail stores, and take sanction measures such as exclusion from recommendations if violations such as distribution delays are confirmed.
Lee Jae-wook, aT's Director of Supply and Demand, stated, "aT will establish a permanent management system for agricultural and livestock product tariff quotas in cooperation with the government by fully utilizing its nationwide field organization, infrastructure, and data capabilities."
