A working group of over 30 people, including key executives, to derive commercialization and priority tasks
LG Group is accelerating follow-up discussions between the two companies for strategic cooperation in the next-generation artificial intelligence (AI) industry, following the meeting between Chairman Koo Kwang-mo and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang.
According to industry sources on the 21st, executives from major LG Group affiliates are scheduled to visit Nvidia's headquarters in Santa Clara, California, on the 22nd (local time) to discuss practical business cooperation plans in the fields of physical AI and robotics with Nvidia executives.
This meeting will be attended by a large working group of over 30 people, including key executives such as Hyun Shin-kyun, President of LG CNS; Jung Soo-heon, CEO of LG Science Park (Vice President); Kim Byeong-hoon, CTO of LG Electronics (Vice President); Lee Hyun-wook, Head of LG Electronics HS Research Center (Vice President); and Min Jon, CTO of LG Innotek (Managing Director), as well as working-level staff from LG Electronics, LG Innotek, LG CNS, and LG AI Research Institute.
They will conduct working-level discussions with Nvidia, including technical sessions and discussions on specific cooperation tasks, to explore commercialization possibilities and derive priority tasks.
Discussions among executives are also expected to include cooperation plans based on 'One LG,' which consolidates core capabilities across the group.
On the 8th, Chairman Koo and CEO Huang met at LG Twin Tower in Yeouido, Seoul, and agreed to strengthen their partnership across the entire AI ecosystem, including physical AI, AI infrastructure, and future mobility, which encompasses the joint development of reference robots (development standards), and to enhance mid-to-long-term cooperation.
Industry analysts interpret this visit by key executives to the US as follow-up working-level discussions taking place just two weeks after the meeting of the two companies' top executives, signifying that the cooperation roadmap between the two companies is rapidly taking shape.
LG plans to build a next-generation AI ecosystem and accelerate AI innovation by organically combining Nvidia's full-stack end-to-end AI platform with LG Group's capabilities in home appliances, robots, mobility components, smart spaces, and AI infrastructure.
An industry official said, "Nvidia provides not only Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) but also AI solutions and platforms, and LG has the manufacturing and infrastructure capabilities to implement these in industrial sites and daily life," adding, "The two companies can become key partners leading the spread of physical AI."
