Nikkei reported that Japan's major financial firm SBI Holdings will acquire local cryptocurrency exchange bitbank for 46.7 billion yen (444.8 billion won). SBI Holdings plans to purchase bitbank shares from individual shareholders, including the founder, in August, and bitbank will acquire shares held by existing shareholders MIXI and Ceres by the end of October. Earlier, SBI Holdings announced in May that it was considering a plan to incorporate bitbank as a subsidiary.
