According to a report by the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), TRM, a cryptocurrency analysis organization collaborating with U.S. law enforcement agencies, stated that Iran is using cryptocurrencies to collect transit fees from ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. This could make it more difficult for the U.S. to block these transit fee payments. TRM pointed out, "Due to the speed of digital currency transactions and their circulation outside the U.S. banking system, it is expected to become complicated to freeze or block transit fee payments in real-time. This represents an important case where cryptocurrencies are being utilized to circumvent national sanctions."
