18% of Q4 sales last year...Other Musk companies like xAI, Neuralink, and Boring also bought units
It has been confirmed that Elon Musk recently purchased over 1,000 units of the electric car company Tesla's pickup truck through his other company, SpaceX.
Bloomberg reported on the 16th (local time) that an analysis of Standard & Poor's (S&P) Global vehicle registration data showed SpaceX purchased 1,279 units of Tesla's pickup truck model, the Cybertruck, in the fourth quarter of last year.
Considering that the total Cybertruck sales in the US during the same period were 7,071 units, this volume accounts for 18% of total sales.
Photos of Cybertrucks parked in a row at SpaceX's Starbase launch site in Texas have already been released online.
In addition, other venture companies led by Musk, xAI, purchased 50 units, Neuralink 6 units, and Boring 4 units, totaling 60 Cybertrucks.
Bloomberg estimated that without the support of other companies led by Musk, Cybertruck registrations in Q4 last year would have decreased by 51% year-on-year.
The price of a single Cybertruck starts at $69,990 (approximately 104 million KRW), meaning Musk's companies, including SpaceX, significantly contributed to Tesla's performance with a substantial investment.
This trend is continuing this year. In January-February, SpaceX purchased an additional 220 Cybertrucks.
The Cybertruck, an electric pickup truck, was launched in 2023.
Musk boasted that he would produce 250,000 Cybertrucks annually by 2025, but due to its polarizing design and high price, it has not been well-received by consumers.
