The Ethereum (ETH) staking ecosystem is rapidly evolving from a simple holding-centric investment to a profit-generating structure, expanding its influence in the market. The trend of it establishing itself as a core pillar that simultaneously strengthens network security and investment returns has become clear.
According to recent foreign media reports, the Ethereum staking market is rapidly advancing in both size and structure. Global staking infrastructure provider Everstake announced that the Ethereum staking market size reached approximately $85.2 billion. This figure shows that staking has established itself as an independent investment area beyond simple participation.
Staking is a structure where participants contribute to network validation and receive rewards, becoming a core revenue model since Ethereum's transition to a Proof-of-Stake mechanism. In this structure, instead of simply holding assets, additional income can be generated by utilizing them for network operations.
A clear shift in investment perspective is also evident in the market. While capital gains from price increases were central in the past, securing returns through staking has recently emerged as a primary investment strategy.
Particularly, the expansion of structures like restaking is further enhancing capital efficiency. As of 2026, the total deposited assets in the restaking market reached approximately $16.2 billion, and the method of utilizing a single asset across multiple services is rapidly spreading.
The inflow of institutional funds is also cited as a key factor driving ecosystem changes. Recently, ETF products that include staking yields have emerged, strengthening connections with traditional finance. This structure is serving as an opportunity to perceive staking as a stable income model similar to dividends.
The expansion of the staking ecosystem also directly impacts network stability. As the staking volume grows, the number of validation participants increases, leading to a structure that enhances blockchain security. Simultaneously, as liquid staking and derivative strategies combine, the market structure is becoming even more complex.
