According to a report by U.S. media outlet Axios, citing two U.S. officials and two negotiation sources, the United States and Iran are negotiating a three-page agreement to end the war, with one key issue being a proposal for Iran to relinquish its enriched uranium stockpile in exchange for the U.S. unfreezing $20 billion in frozen Iranian assets. According to sources, in the early stages of negotiations, the U.S. side proposed unfreezing $6 billion for humanitarian purposes, while Iran demanded $27 billion; the latest amount currently under discussion is $20 billion. One U.S. official stated that this was a U.S. proposal, while another official described the so-called 'cash-for-uranium' plan as "one of several discussions." Meanwhile, the U.S. is demanding that all Iranian nuclear material be transferred to the U.S., but Iran is only willing to accept 'dilution' within its own territory. According to the compromise currently under discussion, some highly enriched uranium would be transferred to a third country (which may not be the U.S.), and the rest would be diluted within Iran under international supervision.
