The debate surrounding the identity of Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto is expanding into a Hollywood film, once again stimulating conflict within the market and community.
According to cryptocurrency specialized media Bitcoin.com on April 20 (local time), the movie 'Bitcoin' stars actors Casey Affleck and Gal Gadot and revolves around tracking the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto. The production is currently underway with the goal of global distribution.
The film focuses on the claims of Australian computer scientist Craig Wright. Wright has claimed to be the creator of Bitcoin, but the industry largely does not recognize this. In 2024, a UK court also did not accept his claims.
The story depicts a war reporter investigating Wright at the request of a blockchain investor. In the course of the investigation, a conspiracy surrounding global power and the financial system is revealed. The production team described the work as a “thriller that asks questions that those in power want to hide.”
This film is also gaining attention for its technical aspects. The production company emphasized that it is the first studio-grade film produced using an AI-based environment. Actors perform live, while backgrounds and visual effects are implemented with AI technology.
Industry reactions are mixed. Some criticize it for bringing up a debate that has already been settled. On the other hand, others view it as an opportunity to publicly re-examine the mystery of Bitcoin's birth.
This work is expected to act as a catalyst, not just a film production, but to bring the debate surrounding Bitcoin's identity and historical interpretation back to the surface.
