NBA legend Scottie Pippen is drawing attention from virtual asset investors by revealing that he is closely watching leading meme coins Shiba Inu and Dogecoin to diversify his portfolio.
According to cryptocurrency media Watcher.Guru on April 20 (local time), former American professional basketball star Scottie Pippen, who won 6 championships with the Chicago Bulls and played 17 seasons, publicly disclosed his cryptocurrency watch list via social media. He named Bitcoin (BTC) as his top investment priority, but also stated that he is keeping an eye on various altcoins, including Shiba Inu (SHIB), to diversify his portfolio.
Pippen stated on his X account that while Bitcoin is his number one, he is currently building a watch list and asked his followers to recommend promising coins. The 10 coins he specifically named on his watch list included a large number of major altcoins such as Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), BNB, XRP (Ripple), ADA, Chainlink (LINK), and Cronos (CRO). Notably, Dogecoin (DOGE) and Shiba Inu, representative meme coins, proudly made the list alongside Game5Ball (BALL), inspired by the Chicago Bulls' first championship, drawing attention.
The industry believes that if Pippen actually takes a buy position on Shiba Inu, which he put on his watch list, he is highly likely to officially announce it. This is because meme coins like Shiba Inu often show independent trends that defy market logic and have the explosive potential to achieve 10x returns in a short period.
However, the media warned that such meme coins are a double-edged sword; while they can bring enormous profits when rising, they can also cause fatal losses up to 20 times greater when falling. Therefore, it advised approaching them only with disposable funds and reiterated that Bitcoin and Ethereum, the two main pillars of the virtual asset market, remain the best choices for investors seeking stable returns.
