Meeting place in Islamabad, Pakistan, ahead of the second peace talks between the United States and Iran
Iran has informed mediators that it will send a negotiation team to the second round of peace talks with the United States in Pakistan, the American daily Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on the 20th (local time), citing sources.
Meanwhile, Iran had not officially confirmed whether it would send a delegation to the second talks. Amidst this, confusion grew when Esmail Baghaei, spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that there were no plans to respond to the second round of peace negotiations with the United States.
When asked about participation in the second round of negotiations at a regular press conference today, spokesperson Baghaei drew a line, saying, "No plans or decisions have been made regarding the next negotiations." He added, "We do not believe in any deadlines or ultimatums when it comes to safeguarding Iran's national interests."
In addition to the WSJ report, CNN also reported that talks would be held soon.
Citing sources, CNN reported that the second round of talks between the United States and Iran is scheduled to be held in Islamabad, Pakistan, on the morning of the 22nd.

According to CNN, the US delegation led by Vice President JD Vance will head to Pakistan on the morning of the 21st. On the Iranian side, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, will lead the negotiation delegation.
The United States and Iran accepted Pakistan's proposed 'two-week ceasefire' on the 7th and have been seeking ways to end the war, setting the negotiation deadline for the 21st (US Eastern Time), which is the 22nd (Iran local time).
According to a White House official cited by the WSJ, US President Donald Trump is unlikely to extend the ceasefire with Iran, which is scheduled to end on the evening of the 22nd, and the ceasefire 'deadline' is putting pressure on the negotiators ahead of the talks.
In addition, the United States is scheduled to host the second ambassador-level talks between Israel and Lebanon at the State Department on the 23rd, according to officials from both countries and the US State Department.
