Independent researcher Giancarlo Relli successfully decrypted a 15-bit Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC) key using public quantum hardware, claiming a 1 BTC (approximately $78,000) bounty offered by Project Eleven, CoinDesk reported. This marks the largest quantum attack demonstration to date, expanding 512 times beyond the record set in September last year. While not an immediate threat to Bitcoin's 256-bit security system, experts point out that the realization of quantum attacks is progressing faster than expected. The estimated number of physical qubits required for actual 256-bit decryption has recently plummeted to less than 500,000.
