▲ Korbit Launches Welcome Payback Event for New Members
Korbit, the first virtual asset exchange in Korea, has launched an aggressive reward strategy to attract new members amidst a rebound in trading volume.
According to the industry on April 27, Korbit (CEO Oh Se-jin) will hold a 'New Member Welcome Payback' event offering benefits worth up to 40,000 won to new members until May 10. This event starts at 10 AM on April 27 and is only open to users who sign up for Korbit for the first time.
The event consists of two benefits. First, the 'New Member Welcome Reward' instantly pays a total of 10,000 won to members who complete all in-app missions. The reward is paid immediately upon clicking the 'Receive' button after completing the mission.
In addition, there is a 'Trading Payback' benefit. New members who complete a trade during the event period can receive 1% of their trading amount back, converted into Tether (USDT), with a maximum payment of up to 30,000 won per person. This reward will be paid out uniformly on May 20. Both benefits can be applied concurrently, allowing new registrants to receive rewards worth up to 40,000 won.
A Korbit official stated, "This event was designed so that users new to virtual asset investment can experience trading without burden," and added, "We will continue to focus on expanding services centered on practical benefits."
Meanwhile, as of 8:34 AM on April 27, according to CoinGecko, Korbit's 24-hour trading volume was approximately $9.35 million, an 88.4% increase from the previous day. Among domestic exchanges, Upbit maintained its top position with approximately $1.566 billion, while Bithumb recorded approximately $495 million and Coinone approximately $38.56 million. Korbit, despite a relatively low market share, is seen to be increasing its presence by showing a recent rebound in trading volume.
The industry views Korbit's current event as a strategy aimed at simultaneously activating trading and securing liquidity, beyond mere marketing. In particular, it remains to be seen whether the expansion of reward-based inflows will lead to an actual rebound in market share in a market environment where trading volumes have decreased.
