The XRP Ledger is solidifying its position as a distribution hub for Real World Assets (RWA) for institutional investors, foreshadowing a powerful upgrade that combines Zero-Knowledge Proofs and smart escrow technology.
According to crypto media outlet Bitcoinist on May 1st (local time), XRP Ledger validator Vet recently hinted at a groundbreaking change in XRP escrow services via his X (formerly Twitter) account. Vet stated that a new model combining Zero-Knowledge Proofs (ZKP) and smart escrows would be introduced, explaining that this method would directly verify offline data on the network and use it as a trigger for escrow execution.
With this technology, institutional investors will be able to enjoy programmable escrow functions where funds are automatically released based on verified external events. Vet emphasized that ZKP host functionality and smart escrows are essential for implementing such a system. The XRP Ledger recently integrated native Zero-Knowledge technology to enhance on-chain privacy, which is crucial for institutional investors, thereby laying the technical foundation for the inflow of institutional capital.
Ripple's development team is undertaking various advanced tasks to expand the XRP Ledger ecosystem, including an authorized decentralized exchange (DEX) and domain functions optimized for regulatory environments. In addition, the introduction of native lending protocols to maximize XRP's utility is also being actively considered. These technological advancements are already manifesting in a sharp increase in Real World Asset issuance, drawing market anticipation.
Evernorth, a financial services company supported by Ripple, announced that the tokenization of US Treasury bonds on the XRP Ledger has surged from $50 million to $418 million over the past 12 months. This represents an approximately 8-fold growth in a short period of one year. Evernorth analyzed that the speed of institutional capital inflow into the network is accelerating, and asset liquidity is also significantly improving.
Transfer transaction volumes, which indicate actual fund flows, also showed record growth. The tokenization transfer volume of US Treasury bonds on the XRP Ledger was around $70 million in 2025, but this year it has already reached $352 million in just four months, achieving more than 5 times growth compared to the previous year. Evernorth diagnoses that the tokenization of US Treasury bonds within the network is accelerating, and the trading frequency of existing issued assets is also rising to unprecedented levels.
