Dan Robinson, a researcher at cryptocurrency investment firm Paradigm, has proposed a new model to protect dormant Bitcoin, including that of Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto, from future quantum computing threats. According to The Block, this model is called 'Provable Address Control Timestamp (PACT)' and provides a way for Bitcoin holders to prove ownership of their wallets before quantum computing technology advances enough to infer private keys. The model utilizes the blockchain's fundamental timestamp system. Holders can prove they own Bitcoin and timestamp it on the blockchain, creating a record of ownership in preparation for future quantum attacks. The explanation states that this model offers a potential solution to key issues in the quantum Bitcoin debate, namely how to protect the ownership and privacy of long-dormant Bitcoin addresses.
