The price of XRP (Ripple) is largely determined not by simple supply and demand, but by regulatory and macroeconomic environments, with regulatory clarity, in particular, acting as a key turning point, according to analysis.
According to cryptocurrency specialized media Watcher.Guru on May 2 (local time), XRP has shown high volatility, falling by about 62% since rising to $3.65 in July last year. Over more than a decade, its price movements have repeatedly experienced sharp rises and falls, with regulatory risks and market sentiment underlying these trends.
The biggest turning point was the lawsuit filed by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) against Ripple in 2020 for selling unregistered securities. The legal uncertainty, which lasted for about four years, significantly dampened investor sentiment, and XRP failed to generate a clear upward trend even during the 2021 bull market.
The situation reversed in 2025 when a U.S. court ruled that XRP sales to individual investors do not constitute securities. However, it was also stated that transactions targeting institutional investors are considered securities. Following this ruling, investor sentiment improved, and XRP recorded a high of $3.65 in July of the same year.
However, the macroeconomic environment subsequently became a drag again. As geopolitical tensions and market uncertainties expanded, investors shifted to risk-aversion strategies, and despite interest rate cuts and the launch of XRP spot ETFs, the price upward momentum did not continue.
Ultimately, while regulatory clarity can act as a catalyst for XRP's price increase, the analysis suggests that geopolitical risks and macroeconomic environmental factors have a greater impact than interest rates or policies. The media assessed that XRP's volatility is likely to continue in the future, depending on market sentiment and global variables.
