A $1 movement in SpaceX (SPCX) stock price has been shown to shift Elon Musk's net worth by $4.76 billion. As the same stock price increase results in only a few to tens of dollars in profit for individual investors, the ownership gap in mega-cap listed stocks is once again highlighted.
According to investment specialized media Moneywise on June 20 (local time), when SpaceX's stock price rises by $1, Musk's net worth increases by $4.76 billion. Moneywise reported that after SpaceX's listing, stock price fluctuations are immediately reflected in Musk's assets.
The perceived profit for individual investors is on a completely different scale. Moneywise calculated that if SpaceX's stock price rises by $1, an investor with $1,000 could earn approximately $5.41. It explained that a $7,000 investor could expect about $37.84 in profit, and a $15,000 investor could expect about $81.08 in profit.
SpaceX has recently received intense market attention after its initial public offering. Following its listing, rapid surges and corrections continued, increasing interest from individual investors. Moneywise pointed out that even amid the mega-growth stock craze, the meaning of the same $1 increase varies greatly depending on the size of the shares held.
This calculation shows that SpaceX has emerged as a key variable in Musk's asset changes, beyond being just a space company's listed stock. Even a $1 movement in the stock price results in a multi-billion dollar change for Musk. In contrast, individual investors obtain only a limited amount depending on the size of their investment.
While the enthusiasm for investing in SpaceX remains strong, Moneywise conveyed a message that individual investors should be wary of the illusion of numbers. Although the stock price growth rate of mega-cap companies and the asset increase of famous founders are striking, the actual investment profit is determined by the amount held and the number of shares, which is the key.
