Elon Musk's social networking service (SNS) X (formerly Twitter) will introduce a messaging app similar to KakaoTalk or WhatsApp next week.
According to the Apple App Store on the 11th (local time), the messaging app 'XChat' is scheduled to be released on the 17th.
This app separates the direct message (DM) function originally provided within the X service and configures it as a separate messaging app.
End-to-end encryption is applied to conversations, providing security features to prevent others from eavesdropping. It also stated that it does not track conversation content or display advertisements.
Elon Musk hopes that X will become an all-encompassing app, going beyond a simple SNS to include voice and video calls, content sharing, financial payments, and more.
The policy is to keep users on the X platform and pursue profit within it.
Shortly after acquiring Twitter in 2022, Musk cited China's 'WeChat,' which built a similar ecosystem, in a conversation with employees, saying, "If Twitter can reach that level or even come close, that alone would be a success."
