"AI will increase SW jobs"… Also emphasized their connection as immigrants who once dined together
The CEOs of software (SW) company Adobe and artificial intelligence (AI) chip company Nvidia unanimously stated that AI agents will redefine the future of SW.
Shantanu Narayen, Adobe CEO, and Jensen Huang, Nvidia CEO, expressed this consensus on the keynote stage of Adobe's annual 'Adobe Summit,' held on the 20th (local time) at the Venetian Convention Center in Las Vegas, USA.
CEO Huang introduced, "Through the agent system created by Adobe, I can now make my intentions understood by Photoshop, Premiere, and other tools. Through agents, we can redefine how we use (SW) tools."
He predicted, "Every point where future Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) meets customers (front-end) is now agent-based and intelligent. This is simply using tools at a higher level, and it will elevate the artistic capabilities of 99.9% of creators worldwide by one level."
CEO Narayen echoed, "We believe that too, because we think it will amplify human creativity."
They expressed a negative stance on the common prediction that the rapid adoption of AI would reduce jobs.
CEO Huang cited the example of the prediction that radiologists would become unnecessary with the introduction of AI in analyzing computed tomography (CT) results, which turned out to be beautifully wrong.
He pointed out, "Currently, 100% of radiology benefits from AI, and the capabilities of computers have completely surpassed human capabilities. The interesting thing is that the number and demand for radiologists have actually increased."
He explained that with the advancement of AI image analysis, doctors can diagnose and treat patients more quickly, leading to an increase in the number of patients and, consequently, a surge in demand for doctors.
CEO Huang suggested that while image analysis is part of a radiologist's 'task,' the 'purpose' of the profession is to diagnose diseases, and therefore, tasks and purposes should be viewed separately.
He continued, "The same thing is happening to SW engineers. In our company, all SW engineers are assisted by agents, and because ideas are quickly implemented (through AI), they are busier than ever."
CEO Narayen concurred, "If we used to create just one marketing campaign, now we're creating and executing hundreds."
The two companies announced their collaboration on building an 'AI Marketing Factory' today, which will transform marketing processes into an AI supercomputer-based system.
For example, when creating a product advertisement, the background will be AI-generated, but the product, which is the core of the brand, will be created as a 3D digital twin, perfectly identical to the actual product.
They also discussed cooperation in terms of security infrastructure, such as enabling Adobe's AI agents to be securely implemented in internal servers or cloud environments by utilizing Nvidia's technology.
Both CEOs, who are immigrants who achieved the 'American Dream' and built successful careers in the IT industry, recalled dining together 25 years ago, reaffirming their strong partnership by saying, "We share history."
Narayen, who has served as CEO for 18 years since 2007, announced his intention to step down in February, stating that he would work with the board over the next few months to select a successor and assist with the transition.
However, he plans to retain his position as Chairman of the Board after stepping down as CEO.
